The UK continues moving towards a fully digital immigration system, with eVisas and ETA requirements expanding across multiple nationalities and travel categories.

“Travellers should ensure their UKVI account details and travel documents remain updated before travel.” — UK Immigration Guidance

The Home Office is increasingly replacing physical immigration documents with digital immigration status records known as eVisas.

Individuals with UK immigration status are encouraged to:

  • Access and update their UKVI online account
  • Ensure passport details are correctly linked
  • Check digital immigration status before travel
  • Keep contact details updated with UKVI

At the same time, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system continues expanding to more nationalities.

Travellers who previously entered the UK without advance permission may now require an ETA before boarding flights to the UK.

Failure to obtain the correct travel authorisation could lead to boarding refusals or entry issues at the UK border.
